You’ve been tasked with booking live music for an event. It may be a life changing occasion (wedding,
birthday party), corporate (grand opening, customer recognition, holiday party) or non-profit (fund-raiser,
gala, raffle). Before you begin your search, it would be in everybody’s best interest to have the following
information at your fingertips:
1) Date and times
2) Name and location of the venue
3) Event type: wedding, fundraiser, dance, grand opening, holiday, etc.
4) Number of hours needing live music
5) Type(s) or entertainment: band, soloist, duo, orchestra
6) Music genres, i.e. rock, country, jazz, alternative. Top 40, dance, big band
7) Vocals, instrumental or both
8) Number of guests
9) Budget
10) Who is making the final decision: you, a couple of people, a committee or board, etc.?
Having this information available makes it easier for a booking agent or musician to find the perfect form
of entertainment for your next event.
